A lot of people think that vacation is a time to experience life to the fullest. And by that I mean they load up the car with their things, head to their destination and then spend one or two weeks with non-stop activity– day trips, restaurants, shopping, amusement parks, historical sites, museums, shows and everything else they can possibly fit into their vacationing days. And to those people I say bravo! You work, take care of your families, socialize with your friends, keep your house tidy, and find time for a million other obligations; and now here you are in sunny Orlando, hopping from one destination to the next and never stopping to think: “huh, maybe I could be relaxing right now.”
Maybe it’s because I think that because I’m a little lazy. But part of me realizes that while I’m at work or school or home, my schedule is packed and when I’m not doing what I’m supposed to be doing, I’m thinking about what I should be doing. My vacations are me time and by that I mean I don’t do anything except me. Vacation is the only time I can detach from my “regular” life and not feel obligated to check in, physically or mentally.
Florida vacation rentals and holiday homes are perfect for that kind of relaxation. Once you arrive at your own private Orlando villa or holiday apartment, you enter a new world. It’s like starting your life all over, except that you’re in a beautiful Florida rental. This type of enclosure allows you to physically detach from the life you lead. And I don’t mean that in a morose, “working life is the bane of main” and the “vacation is a mirage in a sea of despair.” I think its important to realize that we live in a day and age, where our personal lives and merging ever so quickly into our personal lives. And every other sphere in which we used to live our lives are becoming one large conglomerate, much to the detriment of our mental and physical well-being. Because it is so hard to disconnect from the social, political, and professional, unwinding in an Orlando holiday home allows you physically be aware of that disconnect, and then mentally execute it. At the risk of sounding cliche or preachy, I’d say that Florida villa and house rental life allows you to “just be”.
Before you say that telling someone to “just be” is redundant because we are all being all the time. Stop to consider how little we take the time to experience all of the small actions, interactions, and environments we encounter everyday and how we take them for granted. Just to name a few– the first whiff of freshly brewed coffee in the morning, the chirping of birds on your morning commute, the blue sky of noontime, the hellos and how-are-yous throughout the day, and the presence of your family, friends, and loved ones. My ideal Florida vacation in a holiday home allows me to think about these things with new insight and appreciation.
